... after appearing at this year´s Dundee Blues Bonanza the Flaming Stratmen again turn to Stratmen and Woman with german drummeress Marita on board again !                                                                                                              Here´s review by Alan Grant of the Stratmen´s gig at the Bonanza´s opening party ...

Fri Nite at Dexters
Managed to catch Werner and the Flaming Stratmen delivering some 60s/70s style rock blues. I really enjoyed their set, so much so that I gotta dig out all my Hendrix, Trower and Clapton CD's and give them some airplay again. Flaming great guitar and a flaming great rhythm section from one of the bonanza highlights for me.

Here are some facts about the new group "The Flamingstratmen" and their collaboration with american bluesman Son Henry in spring 2008...

The Flamingstratmen became a permanent group after their successful performances at the Dundee Blues Bonanza, UK´s biggest free blues festival, last year. Guitarist and singer Werner “Flamingstratman” Lindner knew the experienced rhythm section consisting of Terry Duggan, bass and Reg Patten, drums from his gigs with  the Ray Bartrip Boogie Band with whom he opened the London Leytonstone based Heathcote Blues Jam several times as guest guitarist. So naturally the style of British Blues and Bluesrock forms the backbone of the Flamingstratmen´s repertoire, which is a mixture of covers carefully blended with some original tunes. Rooting in the ever vibrant London bluesjam scene their music is both - exciting and spontaneous. Improvisation is still a big part of their live appearance, so the audience is put in the first seat to watch and listen to music being created at the very moment.

In 2008 the Flaming Stratmen teamed up with legendary british blues harpplayer John O`Leary and backed him at the Dundee Blues Bonanza. Later that year John and Werner had a few succesful gigs in Germany - acoustic and electric. A meetup in the UK in 2009 is already planned. Please have a look at the gig list.

Footage of this formation, or at least the main part of it can be seen on youtube. Just go to http://www.youtube.com/flamingstratman . You can find more information about this collaboration and pictures on the Solo & Projects section of this site.
